A College Park man early Sunday slept right through the actions of two suspected thieves who stole his shoes, removed a tire from his car, pilfered $48 cash from his wallet, stole his wallet and apparently drove his car from one side of the street to the other, police said.
Johnny Johnson, Jr. of 209 Perkins Dr., College Park, told police he went to sleep in his car while waiting for his wife to come from a dance. He reportedly said when he entered the car it was parked headed north on Griffin St., just north of Magnolia St.
When he was awakened by a firm hand of his wife, police said, Johnson told them he found his car parked in the opposite direction on the opposite side of the street and that the listed items were discovered missing.
Later that morning, police said they went to a cafe and arrested men they identified as Prince Cobb, 27, of 706 Magnolia St., and Parker Fields, 20, of 642 Delbridge, N. W., in connection with the thefts.
The investigating officers said the tire and the pair of shoes were recovered, but no trace of the money or the wallet was immediately found.
The arrested suspects were jailed and charged with suspicion of larceny.
