Large Budget Is
Due For October
A budget of $38,088.50 is the goal for the fund-raising campaign of Occonechee Council of Boy Scouts of America to be held in October in eight of the eleven counties of the district, according to announcement by M. C. Clapp, of Siler City, campaign chairman, through the council's headquarters in Raleigh today.
Three counties - Durham, Wake and Vance - will not participate in the drive by reason of the fact that their share of the budget will be included in their local community chest programs. The other counties, in all of which soliciting will be done for Boy Scout work, are Warren, Granville, Franklin, Orange, Chatham, Moore, Lee and Harnett.
It is planned to raise the money during the month of October, so that the fund will be available for the work starting the first of the year.
Serving on the campaign committee with Clapp are T. S. Royster, of Oxford; Claude Bowers, Warrenton; Dr. H. O. Mumphrey, Sanford, and F. E. Joyner, of Hillsboro.
C. O. Seifert is chairman for the Vance district and W. B. Shearer - finance chairman for this immediate area.
