Water Plant
Gets High Rating

A very excellent rating has been given Fairport in respect to the water supply and filtration plant. Tests were made recently by F. H. Waring, chief engineer of the State Department of Health. The tests revealed that Fairport had a much better water supply, in regard to purity, than other surrounding communities. The engineer stated that the "plant is well kept and presents a clean appearance, and is being operated without changes since previous inspection in 1943."

The letter from the department informed council at their meeting Monday that "this excellent rating has been given only to those systems concerning which no recommendations of importance were made for the betterment of the physical plant or the water quality control, and where the water quality is not subject to danger of contamination by reason of any uncontrolled sanitary hazards."

Council authorized the foreclosure on the properties of Ray and Nellie Pomeroy on High street and Orchard street. These three lots have been certified delinquent on September 2, 1932.

Discussions were held concerning other delinquent properties and a course of action was decided upon by council.

Notices are to be sent to property owners whose property is in such condition as endangers the public. Council will request that this work be done before winter, in order to insure public safety.

Bills for the sidewalk project and corrective procedure were also discussed by council. George Emedy, local property owner, informed council of an alleged flaw in the construction of sidewalks on his property. Other phases of the sidewalk project were also taken up. Council also authorized Steve Sutch, Sr., to proceed to try to eliminate the flow spots at the water main at the corner of New and East streets near Holson's service station.

A committee is to be appointed for the research work in regard to the zoning project being considered by the village. Consultation with various organizations and businesses will be held in the near future.

George Gedeon proposed the beautifying of the village property at the Garfield school site where the village is now erecting a garage for the storage of village vehicles and equipment.

Vernie Nortunen, fire chief, made a request to council for needed raincoats and boots for firemen.

A communication from the Dodge Corporation of New York was read to council regarding suitable construction sites in or nearby the village.

The effects of the curfew on vandalism in the village was discussed. Several cases of vandalism

A discussion was also held in connection with the deaths by means of suicide which have occurred recently and the robbery of the Ben Franklin store a short time ago.
It was stated that the local police are now checking with the insurance company in connection with the robbery of the store.
Interest has been paid to certain suspects.
