New York, May 16.
The Evening Post's Washington dispatch of to-day says:
"The news from the army of the Potomac this morning is encouraging. It is believed here that a six weeks campaign will be required for the capture of Richmond. Gen. Grant is reported to have said that he will take Richmond by the 4th of July. Vicksburg fell last year on that day. Some of the three months troops are here and more are arriving hourly. The latest advices from the front show that Lee holds his position south of Spottsylvania Court House. Gen. Grant is evidently preparing for another great battle. There is a very confident feeling at the War Department this morning."
