Full Text
Governor Torres of the state of Sonora has received instructions from the Mexican federal government to see that the warring Yaquis are either exterminated, exiled or subdued in some manner.
This information published in the Citizen was learned from parties who arrived in Tucson on the International train from Hermosillo.
Following these instructions Governor Torres has gone to Ures, they say, and from that point he will direct the operations of the Mexican soldiers, who will be detailed to hunt down the Yaquis.
Ures, where he will make his headquarters, is the old capital of Sonora, and is a town of only about 1000 people at the present time. Formerly, when it was the capital of Sonora its inhabitants numbered about 25,000. It is located on the Sonora river about 40 miles northeast of Hermosillo and is close to the region where the Yaquis commit their murders and depredations.
