[To the Editor Courier Journal.]

The suggestion of the name of the Hon. James B. McCreary for the place of Vice President on the National Democratic ticket should meet with the hearty approval of not only the people of Kentucky, but of the entire South.

Patriotic and wise men no longer fear to insist that a Southern man on a national ticket no harm, but, on the other hand will do it much good. The States which cast so large a proportion of Democratic votes should not only have a voice, but representation in this most important political conflict.

In Senator McCreary, Kentucky and the South has a man who will meet every demand and expectation, and his career in all the departments of life has been well rounded, successful and satisfactory.

He was a diligent student in youth, an honest and faithful lawyer, a brave and gallant soldier, a careful and wise legislator, a progressive Governor, a brilliant and useful member of the National House of Representatives, the most sagacious campaign leader who ever served his party in this State, a laborious and learned representative of this Government in international councils, and a conscientious representative of Kentucky in the United States Senate.

Vigorous of body and mind, with a life full of political experience, always creditably representing his party and State in the past and present there is no man in the Democratic party better fitted to discharge the duties of Vice President than this distinguished son of Kentucky who for nearly forty years as a Democratic leader has made no mistakes and whose public and private life has been ideal.
