Invaders of China Display Intense Interest in Fireside Chat Tonight

TOKYO, May 27.--In a statement made on the eve of President Roosevelt's broadcast tonight at 6:30 o'clock, PST, Captain Hiraide, Japanese Navy Ministry spokesman declared, "The Imperial Navy is always prepared to meet any eventuality."

"Two hundred warships are now engaged in patrol duty along the China Coast and more than 300 additional warships, together with a total of 4,000 planes are stationed in the Pacific ready to take action on a moment's notice to defend Japan against any enemy or combination of enemies."
