Full Text

The Cincinnati Commercial has received a communication from a clairvoyant about the war steamer Tennessee. The woman through whom the spirit reported passed into an abstracted condition, according to this authority, and declared that the vessel was not lost, but only delayed by some accident, a derangement of her machinery and "perhaps a leak." The clairvoyant inferred the leak, for she saw "men at work in the hold of the vessel 'as though something were wrong there." It also appeared that the vessel was out of her course, lying motionless on the water, with sturdy old Ben Wade standing upon the deck gesticulating, while "six or eight men appeared to be leaving the steamer in a small boat as though going for succor."

The Commercial would prefer to have more particulars if not more substantial evidence to satisfy the anxious curiosity of its readers.
