Walter Hayden and Harold Martin's "Lamp Lighting Time In The Valley" Considered Best In Chepachet Parade.
EAST PUTNAM
The Windham County Hill Billies, Walter Hayden and Harold Martin, won first prize with their float, "Lamp Lighting Time in the Valley" during the parade which featured the Fourth of July celebration in Chepachet. The float was a beautiful sight with its log cabin and pine trees surrounding it, and a light shining brightly through the window and the pleasant glow of the fire-light showing through the open door. The Hill Billy boys sat near the door of the cabin playing and singing, to the accompaniment of their guitars, that beautiful song. "Lamp Lighting Time in the Valley."
