Full Text

The N. Y. Evening Post, (Soft Democrat,) objects to the meeting of the National Democratic Convention at Washington, because

At Washington the worst political influences prevail. At Washington, a man from the North, who leaves home with opinions and views which make him a tolerable representative of his constituents, if he be at all of a plastic temperament, as the large majority of mankind are, is wrought upon in a remarkably short space of time, by these influences, and yields himself up to be its passive instrument.

At Washington, a Northern man often first learns that there is a South, as well as a North, or vice versa; and hence, of course, there is something to learn.
