Strange Casualty --At a place called
Dog Town, about the old Anderson coal
bank, on the north side of the Edwards river.
in Pre-emption township, two young cattle
belonging to Edward Boden were struck by
lightning last week on the second night of
the big thunder storm. The two young cattle
lay together, one having fallen on top
of the other. The youngest of the two a
heifer about 18 months old, lay under. and
was struck on the jugular vein in the
neck. The tortuous course of the vein was
traced along the entire body of the animal
by a charred path. on the surface of the skin.
where the hair was completely singed off-
the path of the lightning terminating at the
hind foot. The other one, a steer, one year
old, showed no mark on the surface.
Whether this was done by one or two strokes
is not known.

Unknown if one or two strokes.
