We have the following account from the frontiers of Turkey: That the Grand Vizier's army at the Danube does barely consist of 70,000 men, and are in want both of ammunition and provision; and though they use their best endeavours to raise more recruits, they cannot get any. Neither had the Sultan's generosity, in distributing a great deal of money among the people at Constantinople, any effect. The people openly show their dislike to fighting against the Russians, which it is thought is occasioned by the terrible description some who have returned from the army have given of the Russian firing.
