"As soon as Hostilities shall be begun between Great Britain and Spain, and the latter shall have given France Advice thereof, and shall have demanded her Succour, a Squadron of 12 or 14 Men of War will set sail from Provence, and endeavour to join the Spanish Fleet at Cadiz. The Marquis d'Antin's Squadron now returning from the Baltick, will be order'd to cruize upon the Coasts of Great Britain. The Body of Troops which is in Picardy, should Things come to a certain Point, will be augmented to 40,000 Men. The Privateers of Brittany will be sent likewise to cruize on the Coasts of England; and some are of Opinion, that an Attempt will be made to recover the Islands of Jersey and Guernsey, these Islands being situate so near the Coasts of France, and consequently capable of giving great Annoyance to the Subjects of that Nation, so long as they are in the Hands of its Enemies."
