From BOURDEAUX
Gloucester, Oct. 23, 1798.
MR. RUSSELL,
The following extract from a letter from Bourdeaux, which I received by the arrival of Gen. Pinckney, will serve to confirm the verbal accounts by the Franklin, as mentioned in Saturday's Centinel; and also confirms a part of Talleyrand's (which I think wants confirmation)-response to Mr. Gerry's answer to his letter.

THE EXTRACT.
The following may be relied upon, as coming from an American, and a true friend to our government.
"Bourdeaux, Aug. 27, 1798.
I think every thing will still be settled, as this government seems disposed to accommodate matters.
We have news here from America, to the 15th of July, and I think nothing more will take place until news arrives here from what Mr. Gerry carried out.--All the privateers in the West-Indies, are absolutely to be called in, as no doubt you will see by the arret of the Directory and orders are gone out for that purpose.
The high Caution Court at Paris, have lately cleared 2 or 3 Americans, which I think will stop their taking those who have proper papers. Those vessels had been condemned in two Courts before.
There have been condemned 2 or 3 here which I think will be cleared at Paris. A wonderful change! There is one under trial, whose papers are in order, except a certificate that the sugar is not English produce.--Brokers are appointed to examine it, and if they report favourably, I think she will be cleared."
