A people that in 313 working days cannot make a living and have a comfortable home, with the advantages that we have are worse than thriftless and are creatures of sympathy. There is not a man in Hardin county that is industrious and economical that cannot have competency.
Those who are prating about the hard times are the ones that will always be a stumbling block in their own way and a nuisance to the industrial world. One great misfortune with many of us, is that we study our neighbor's business and keep our noses poked into it to the neglect of our own affairs. A busy and prudent life in this country will surround our homes with prosperity and clear our minds of prejudice; thus making us happier and better people.
