Monrovia (ANP) - A petition has been presented to the Liberian Legislature which seeks to make a change in the terms of the Liberian president from four years to eight years. When President Tubman was first elected it was for a four year term.
The constitution was changed so that a chief executive could serve two terms, the six years and the second term four years.
President Wm. V. S. Tubman is now serving the second term of four years, after a first tenure of 6 years.
By 1960 he will have served 12 years. Various petitions have been circulating urging the president to seek still another term which presumably would require a change in the constitution.
