SCHOOLMASTERS CLUB MEETS MONDAY IN HYDE
School Units of Ten Counties And Two Cities Are Represented, with Attendance of 75
Colored slides of scenes throughout Hyde County were shown by Leon Ballance Monday night at the December meeting of the Albemarle Schoolmaster's Club held at West Hyde High School at Swan Quarter. Approximately 75 were in attendance and enjoyed dinner served by local students under the supervision of Mrs. Alice R. Cann.
The club is made up of members of the teaching profession, including the superintendents and supervisors, from Hyde, Dare, Washington, Tyrrell, Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck and Gates counties, and the Edenton and Elizabeth City city units.
Gerald James, principal of the Edenton High School and the club's president, presided over the business session. Tommie Gaylord, Hyde's superintendent, introduced guests, who included Dick O'Neal, Hyde's representative in the General Assembly.
The invocation was by Joseph W. Lupton, principal of West Hyde. E. K. Mann of Swan Quarter, president of the Hyde County NCEA Unit, made the welcome address. Special music was presented by Mrs. Joseph W. Lupton, accompanied by Mrs. William Miller.
