AS BATTLE ARBITER
OF FARGO FIGHTERS
Barton, Hoke and Snave of
Twin Cities. Are Considered
by Hurley
Fargo, N. D.. Feb. 6.-With the
biggest advance sale in the history
of northwest boxing, Promotor
Jack Hurley is confronted with a
problem today that is certain to
cause him plenty of trouble before
Russie LeRoy and Billy Petrolle
part the ropes in Fargo Friday
night for their 10 round grudge
battle.
After both of the principals had
agreed on Leo Kossick of Moorhead
as the third man in the ring. Kos-
sick threw a monkey wrench in the
machinery by announcing that he
would not accept the assignment.
"I have refereed several bouts
that were just as tough as the Le-
Roy-Petrolle fracas," said the Moor-
head man. "but knowing Russie
and Billy as I do, I would sooner
watch the bout from a ringside
seat."
Jack Hurley, promotor of the
show. said he had no idea what of-
ficial he could obtain who would be
satisfactory to LeRoy.
Referee Question Worries
"I thought all of my worries
were over, but I guess they have
just started," the promotor moaned.
"However, I think I can get LeRoy
to accept George Barton or Billy
Hoke of Minneapolis or Ed Snave
of St. Paul, as the referee." Hur-
ley stated that he would try to
reach an agreement with LeRoy by
Tuesday.
Billy Petrolle arrived in Fargo
today and announced that he was
in good condition. Petrolle denied
that he had been in bed for a week
and under a doctor's care. "I had
a bad cold and had a physician call
on me a couple of times, but it was
nothing serious," explained the Far-
go Express, "and besides, it only
lasted a couple of days.
"Gosh," said little Billy. "can't a
fighter have a slight cold without
everybody getting excited about
it?"
It was announced today Szymka
Zibuil, Hurley's new heavyweight
protege, would appear on the card.
His opponent has not been named
but it is thought that some good
fighter from the Twin Cities will
be imported.
Regardless of the fact that the
referee question is still unsettled,
the ticket sale continues to move
at a merry clip.
