Baer Says Would Like To Fight As Centennial Spot

DALLAS, Aug. 11. - (AP) - A world's heavyweight championship fight for the 1936 Texas centennial.

Such plans were discussed here between C. H. Poe, state boxing commissioner, and Maxie Baer, heavyweight champion.

Poe outlined centennial plans to Baer, pointing out that in 1936, a magnificent exhibition honoring the memory of Texas heroic fighters, portraying the advancement of the last century and forecasting the future would be held in one of the larger cities.

Baer was interested. "Of course 1936 is far away, but if I am champion at the time of your centennial I would like nothing better than to defend my title as one of the features of the centennial" Baer said.
