It was a charming day, and the wheels buzzed over the smooth road, which had a little thin paste of mud, snow and water over it, and the air was filled with flying particles of mud, thrown up by the fast whirling wheels, a good portion of which lodged upon the backs of the occupants of Dimick's double seated open wagon.
The farm, as our readers know, is on Rock river. It contains about 150 acres of choice land; a fine trotting course, good in any weather; one elegant new dwelling house, for his head man; another fine new one for help; and another (older) one for tenants; a very large and convenient stable, with numerous sheds, corn cribs, yards, and all the conveniences of a large stock farm. The numerous stacks of hay, shocks of corn, etc. are evidence of a productive soil and careful farming.
