The Boston junto, who but a few months ago were loudly threatening a division of the union, finding public opinion adverse to the plan, have not only abandoned it for the present, but stoutly deny that they entertained any such idea. This sneaking conduct of the junto reminds us of the anecdote related of a Scotchman, who, creeping through the hedge of an orchard with the intent to rob, was discovered by the owner, who called out to him, "Hoot mon, where are you ganging?"—"Bock agen."
