Extract of a letter from Viva, near the Lake of Geneva, June 7:

"A late event has occasioned a great consternation in this neighbourhood. One of the houses belonging to the Sieur Senveur was this morning, about five o'clock, engulfed in the waters of the lake; at the same time a large building in the lower court of M. Triquet, and a part of the house of Sieur Jeannot, disappeared, and not the smallest trace of either of these buildings is to be discerned. The number of persons drowned is not known."
