Stage Line to Gaines' Landing. After repeated solicitations, Mr. Postmaster General Campbell, we perceive in a communication in the Camden Herald, has consented to advertise for proposals to carry the mail, twice a week, from Gaines' Landing to Washington, via Camden, in two-horse coaches. The right kind of mail facilities on this route would be of very great importance to the people of South Arkansas, but the grade of service proposed by the Post-Master General is entirely inadequate. Two-horse coaches over such roads as there are between this place and Gaines' Landing, particularly in the winter season, will be about equal to no service at all. Anything less than four-horse service will be insufficient, and unless we can get that we had as well have nothing. We predict, however, that we will not even get two-horse coaches. The Post-Master General, as he has done in many other instances, will deem the bids too high, and will refuse to award the contract. In common with a large majority of the people of the United States, we patiently await the time when this department of the Government will be relieved from the odium which has attached to it ever since it has been under the control of its present inefficient head.
