We congratulate all the friends of the prosperity of Virginia upon the rejection of the proposition submitted to the Legislature a few days since by the member from Isle of Wight, for making the Stockholders of Incorporated Companies answerable out of their private fortunes for the debts of the association. A more ruinous and mistaken policy never received the sanction of well-meaning men. Had the principle which he advanced been enacted into a Law we might have bid farewell to all improvement in Virginia. The vote on the question of adopting the measure of Mr. Yoileman was—ayes 41, nays 81.
