Full Text

Extract of a letter from an English Gentleman at CONSTANTINOPLE, March 18.

In the late tumults here the mob surrounded the house in which Prince Radzivil made his residence, and in less than an hour levelled it with the ground. His Highness narrowly escaped with his life, but all his domestics, I believe to a man, were slain; as were some of the Gentlemen who accompanied him hither. Among these I was much shocked to find was that truly amiable young man, Count Nicholas Radzivil, the Prince's first cousin. The rabble paraded the streets for three days after this horrible massacre, with the heads of the Count and his unfortunate companions stuck on spears borne before them.
