Rhode Island. The result of the counting of the votes cast at the recent election in Rhode Island by the Legislature, now in session at Newport, was as follows: For Governor—Phillips Allen (Dem.) had 6,935; Josiah Chapin (Whig) had 6,106; scattering, 204—Allen's majority, 628. For Lieutenant Governor—Wm. B. Lawrence (Dem.) had 6,787; Reese Babcock (Whig) had 6,259; scattering, 198; Lawrence's majority, 330. The oath of office was administered to the officers elect, and they were duly installed in their office.
