Approximately 550 acres of registered grain in Roosevelt county received a favorable field inspection report from John Mikesell of the Montana Seed Growers Association last week, said Don L. Hunter, county extension agent.
Farmers having fields that meet Montana's high standard for pure seed field inspection are: Willard Beeker, Froid, 40 acres Canadian Thatcher: Holger Christoffersen, Froid, 8 acres Mission Oats: W. Glenn Swank, Poplar, 250 acres of Canadian Thatcher: and Bert Haagenson, Medicine Lake, 250 acres of Thatcher.
The above mentioned farmers, in order to meet the final requirements for registered seed sale, must harvest the grain with a clean combine and bin the grain in clean bins.
The seed, before final passage, must also meet the Montana Seed Growers laboratory test specifications on germination and purity at Montana State College.
