Intrepidity of an American Lady.—During the late war, a barge from the British frigate Nimrod, which was blockading our coast, came into Holmes' Hole harbor, and seeing several boats endeavoring to make their escape into a pond, they landed on a neck of land and commenced firing at them. The wife of one of the boatmen, on being told of the circumstance, gave a young child she had in her arms to her servant girl, saying,—'Here Sally, pray take the child, while I go and see them there English devils cannonade Nathan.'
