WINTER WHEAT SEEDING BY CO. AGENT HENRY BOTCH.

One month from now the 1950 crop of winter wheat will be seeded. It comes at a time when we are busiest. However, a crop of approximately 10,000 acres deserves some attention. The best seeding date is September 15. Winter wheat seeded prior to September 1st is more likely to show up with root rot. Seed should be treated prior to the seeding for control of stinking smut at a reliable treating plant.

Good seed of recommended varieties should be used. For western Montana and Lake county Wasatch and Yogo are recommended. Both are resistant to stinking and dwarf smut, and winter injury.
