Full Text
Judge Sloan.—Few deny that Judge Sloan is abundantly qualified for the place to which he was nominated by the Republican State Convention. His integrity is above question, and his ability is of an excellent order. He would carry to the bench the unqualified esteem and confidence of the whole State.— Nothing stands in the way of his success, as it appears to us, but the want of evidence to the great mass of the voters, as to his political attitude on the great question of State's Rights, which is the all absorbing one in their estimation. We have thought from the first that he was right on that question. The weight of evidence is in that direction. And the best evidence we have been able to get since his nomination is of that nature.
