WASHINGTON, D. C., Jan. 20. (AP)--The War Department reiterated for the third time within the past year its opposition to making the airplane co-equal with land and sea armaments.
Secretary Davis, before the House Military Committee said "Our answer is no!" When asked to give his department's views on a bill to create a department of national defense, he said they agree with the Coolidge Air Board report which said "we don't recommend a Department of National Defense, either comprising the army and navy or comprising the three coordinate departments, the army, navy and air."
Davis said his position in the matter was the result of careful analysis of reports of numerous investigating boards and committees, "the opinions of men who devote their lives to these problems."
