Full Text

The Senate Election Bill.
We publish to-day the most objectionable sections of the bill passed by the Senate as a substitute for the House Election bill. Fraud and rascality are plainly stamped upon its face. It is a complete answer to those weak-kneed Democrats of the North who have been preaching patience and submission to us ever since 1873, and urging us to right all of our wrongs at the ballot box. It knocks the last leg from under those who stand upon such grounds. It proclaims the determination of the Kellogg crowd to perpetuate their power by fraud if it can possibly be done. But the time for such doings is past. It becomes now the duty of our representatives to let it be distinctly understood that no Returning Board will be permitted to falsify the returns of the next election. They need have no fears that their constituents will not stand by them to the last extremity.
