Russel Chappell, Tobias Wheeler, Geo. Hagan, and Titus Edwards, (a free man of color,) were on yesterday brought before the Recorder, charged with having been concerned in beating a man the over night, by the name of BARNABAS BAXTER, of Yarmouth, Mass. on board of a vessel lying at Rockets. During the conflict, Mr. Baxter, received an unlucky blow, which knocked him overboard. and was drowned.

A Coroner's Inquest was held on the body of Baxter, yesterday morning, and brought in a verdict, that he came to his death by excessive beating and drowning. Upon the evidence before the Recorder, the free man of color, (Titus Edwards,) was discharged; and the three white men were committed for an examining Court.
