Full Text

NEW HAVEN, December 11.

Wednesday evening last a fleet of between 70 and 80 sail of men of war and transports were seen to pass Maineck, standing to the eastward, an account of which we received in the fore- noon of the next day: and it is supposed they went by our harbour in the night, as nothing was seen of them here, and are the same mentioned under New London head. We hear they left their station near Black Point on Saturday, and went out to sea through the Race, and that by the course they steered were bound to Rhode Island. It is uncertain what number of troops they have with them; some say about 5000.
