Ferguson To Sit On Bench During Maverick Trial

PHARR, Nov. 25-(Say-Bryce) Judge Bryce Ferguson, criminal district judge of Hidalgo county, was scheduled to leave here during the week-end for San Antonio where he will preside in Bexar county district court when Maury Maverick, mayor of San Antonio, faces trial Monday on charges of illegal payment of poll taxes.

Judge Ferguson will replace Bexar County Criminal District Judge W. W. McCrory who disqualified himself soon after Maverick was indicted in connection with the alleged payment of poll taxes for members of the International Ladies' Garment Workers union.

Press releases from San Antonio Saturday said that 20 state witnesses, mostly members of the union and bankers, had been summoned for the trial.
