The Pascagoula Democrat Star

Probably the oldest married couple in existence are now living in the infirmary of Gallia county, Ohio. Their names are William J. and Lucy Ann Davis. Both were born in Pennsylvania, he in November, 1771, she in February, 1778, both being over 100 years of age. Each had been married twice before. They have been living together forty-three years, and are in possession of their faculties and health. The old lady reads without glasses. Recently they walked two miles to call on a friend, and were not fatigued. Four years ago they walked to Jackson, a distance of thirty-two miles, in two days. The old man has never been sick a day in his life, and never took a dose of medicine. He chews tobacco, and his teeth are in perfect preservation. Winsted, Ct., has a couple named Sturgis who are almost as old, he being 97 and his wife 94. They have been married over 73 years.
