Monday night last, about twelve o'clock, a small schooner, laying at anchor at Frog's-Point, commanded by Samuel Hempstead, bound from New-York to this port was boarded by a whale-boat with five men armed with pistols, cutlasses and bayonets, on which one of the men presented a pistol to Capt. Hempstead's breast, damn'd him; and told him if he did not immediately bring him 20 dollars, he would put him to death. Capt. Hempstead told him he had not so much money on board, but brought him what he had & they then struck and cut Capt. Hempstead and his people, who were only three in number, and robbed them of about 70 dollars value in money and goods, besides stripping them of sundry articles of clothing--Before they left the vessel they took their oars from them to prevent their rowing to the guard-ship, which was near; and at quitting the vessel they secured Capt. Hempstead and his people below deck, and threatened that if they made any noise to alarm the guard-ship, they would immediately return on board and put them to death.
