EXPERT TO MEET HEALTH COMMITTEE

Citizens Responsible for Typhoid Investigation Will Talk With Dr. Lumsden

At the request of the citizen's health committee which was responsible for the present typhoid investigation in the valley and which made the first suggestion of bringing here a government expert from the marine hospital, Dr. L. L. Lumsden will meet with the members of that committee Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. in the Commercial club rooms. Dr. Lumsden seemed surprised to learn of the existence of this health committee when Mrs. Clifton Ham and Mrs. A. H. Henry, representatives in it from two of the women's clubs, called upon him yesterday morning. He also seemed pleased.

"That is fine," he said, "that is the very thing. With some such representative organization to work with, I shall be able to carry out my plans more effectively. There is much to do and this coming month will be perhaps the most important time for preventive measures."

Want to Confer

Chairman Alex. Miller of the citizen's health committee has called the meeting in order that the representatives of the different organizations which make up its membership may confer with the government expert not only on present measures, but on the steps to be taken to insure the carrying out of all the good plans.

Dr. Lumsden, in conference with Mesdames Ham and Henry of the women's health committee, decided on Thursday, at 2:30 p. m., at the Presbyterian church as the date for the meeting of women which he wishes to address on health matters.

It is a matter of regret that some of the officers and active members of the women's clubs will be away at Olympia attending the state federation of women's clubs convention, but since the government man has a regular program to carry out, and has set aside next week for district meetings, in which he will talk to smaller groups of people in different sections of the city, it was thought inadvisable to postpone the meeting.

All Should Attend

Every woman who wants first hand information about health conditions in North Yakima, what the menaces are to her family and what she can do about it, which means every wife and mother in the city, should attend this talk. Dr. Lumsden will undoubtedly be ready to answer questions and make suggestions for individual and organization work in getting the city cleaned and keeping it so. And since keeping the city clean means primarily keeping the individual home clean, it is a matter of first importance to Yakima women.
