FOR THE LITERARY CADET.
Perceiving that your columns are open to receive the contributions of correspondents, I have leave to hand you the annexed little sonnet, translated from the Greek of Sappho, and addressed 'To an illiterate and unpoetical woman.' If it should find favor in your eyes, I will thank you to give it an early insertion. It reflects the views of my mind, and I cannot but hope, that it will meet those of yours.
Very respectfully yours,
LUCIA.
REMARK.—We take pleasure in informing our correspondent, Lucia, that we are much pleased with her translated effusion, and thank her for the favor she has conferred. We admire her taste, and shall be glad to hear from her as often as her convenience, and pleasure will permit.
