Dividing an $8,000 Bribe.

Washington, March 12.--Those who are conducting the case of Hinds, against Second Assistant Postmaster Brady, review Brady's attack upon Hinds, and claim that Brady has in no way defended himself from the charges made in the letters which he produces. The Hinds people deny nothing, and do not go into the merits of the question. The Hinds people renew the charge that Brady divided an $8,000 bribe with S. P. Brown, which was obtained from John Walsh, a wealthy Star Route contractor. They say that S. P. Brown is a partner of Brady in some timber lands in Canada, that a regular arrangement was made through the Sixth Auditor's office, by which Brady or some one in his interest received the money. Hinds states that Brown, the alleged partner of Brady, informed him (Hinds) that he divided $8,000 with Brady in Walsh's house on Tenth street in April, 1879.
