Event Details
A Negro Fellow belonging to Dr. McKitry committed a shocking murder on the doctor's sister early in the morning while she was ironing clothes. After making a fire, he took his master's horse, struck her on the back of her head with a hot flat iron, repeated the blow, dragged her to the cellar, struck her several times with an old ax, rubbed the hot iron over her face and stuck it into her eyes, scorching her considerably, then rode off on the horse. The family found her in that condition; she continued until the evening of the next day and died.
