OKEH AS FAR AS IT GOES BUT IT DON'T GO FAR ENOUGH
The new walk in front of the Arcade Park is good as far as it goes but the plan of going across to the dock approach at a tangent is more or less frowned upon due to the reason it runs into the street traffic. It has been suggested that the walk be continued straight down the street to a point alongside of the approach then cut over. This would absolutely eliminate all chances of pedestrians being splashed with mud and water from passing vehicles besides lending a much more attractive appearance.
The unsightly lighting system leading from the depot to the main street is another subject commented upon much in recent months. It was pointed out that inasmuch as the pathway is on government property that, along with the railroad's general policy of upkeep along the right-of-way a big improvement can be made in this regard. And while they are at it the muck around the depot proper should be taken off and new gravel put down. As it is every time an auto or truck gets within smelling distance of the depot they become mired in the soft ash or whatever mixture it was dumped there when the new site was made.
That's all for today!
