Messrs. EDITORS,—

I have noticed in your paper of late several articles of a complimentary character upon the subject of the Boats used as passage boats between this place and Northampton, and I fully agree with the writers of those articles as to the utility of the project, the convenience of the boats, and the regularity with which they are run by the several captains in charge of them. I am also of the opinion that the general object for which this project was started, will in a very considerable degree be answered, viz: an increase of business and security to the Canal. And entertaining these opinions I am one that is willing to render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's. We are indebted for this improvement to Mr. N. A. Bacon, who was the principal projector of the enterprise, and the active and indefatigable agent in procuring the subscription to the stock, in organizing the company, procuring the necessary information respecting the models and general arrangement of the boats, in building the same under very embarrassing circumstances, in furnishing, and making all the necessary arrangements for putting them in successful operation.
