William Seablar, a sausagemaker for William Shoulder's meat market at 18 Main avenue, was fined $50 and costs by Justice Hinkle this morning for the larceny of a ham and two strips of bacon.
Shoulder said when he returned from lunch one of his men told him Seablar came into the place and stole a ham. Shoulder had that same morning discharged Seablar.
The proprietor went to the sausagemaker's room, up over the market, and demanded his ham. Seablar denied having it, but Shoulder told him to bring back the meat or be arrested. Later on Seablar came in the back door of the market with the ham and also a long butcher knife with which he proceeded to make a hostile advance upon his former boss. The former boss beat a retreat and telephoned the police station. Detective Weir and Patrolman Miles responded and placed Seablar under arrest.
Later, the landlady telephoned headquarters that she had found two strips of bacon under Seablar's bed. This was also identified as the property of Shoulder as it bore his brand.
Both men are Germans and when the trial was well started they commenced to quarrel in their native tongue.
