A Trip to Beloit.
Messrs. W. C. Olson and W. S. Tilton went to Beloit last Sunday.
Their business was to attend the meeting of the Congressional Central Committee on Monday. The full particulars of the proceedings of the committee appear elsewhere in this paper.
Both of us met many friends, were treated nicely, and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly as far as the weather would permit. Beloit is a beautiful city of about three thousand inhabitants, and it is growing. We drove through the city, and took a general survey. In halting at the residence of our friend Caldwell of the Courier, we noticed that he was putting the finishing touches on his commodious house, in the fashionable portion of the city. He seems to be one poor printer who has succeeded.
We have only one objection to Beloit this August. This is its sultriness.
With no air in motion, the dust three or four inches deep, the dust and smoke filling the calm air, and the thermometer kept laboring to make an average record of more than 100 -if we were not glad to get back to Wa-Keeney, and share the blissful weather, we are lying hard!
