HERALD AND NEWS.
E. H. AULL, EDITOR.
THE PRESS ASSOCIATION.
The annual meeting will be held at Greenville next week, beginning on Wednesday night. The programme has heretofore been published in this paper.
We made a hurried run yesterday over to Greenville and spent an hour in consultation with Col. Hoyt and Mr. Richardson of the local press in regard to the meeting. The brethren at Greenville have everything in readiness and those who attend may expect a pleasant and profitable gathering.
As we have already announced the indications now are for a large attendance at the meeting. We hope every editor who can do so will be present.
Arrangements for the trip have all been completed and we leave Greenville Friday afternoon over the Southern for Washington, where we will spend two days and go thence to Baltimore and down the bay to Old Point Comfort.
We hope all the members who attend can possibly do so will be present at the opening session on Wednesday night.
The only way to make these annual gatherings pleasant and profitable is for each member of the association to feel and act as if the success depended on his individual efforts.
The train over the Southern to Greenville is a great train. We understand that Mr. Welles is endeavoring to secure a mail contract for it and if he is successful it will start from Columbia, which will give us the State and the Register in Newberry for breakfast.
We hope he may be successful and that the train may run to Columbia.
