We Are Sorry
There has been considerable comment pro and con regarding the cutline in last week's Tribune under the Cherry Grove Beach picture that read "Hell Hit Hard."
Some seem to think that there was a sacreligious undertone to the statement. Actually when Al Harrison wrote the cutline he had no such thought but rather pictured the devastation as hellish for those people who lost everything.
At least one prominent local minister has said that there is good theological argument that hell did hit hard when the hurricane struck so violently.
And those of us who viewed the destruction only a few minutes after it was done, could scarcely think of it in any light other than hellish.
You certainly couldn't have said it was heavenly. The words the Tribune used were simply to indicate the real nightmare the destruction represented.
Anyhow, we are sorry that some were offended. The same mistake won't happen again.
