Full Text

The Athens Post pays Dr. Shipley, who was nominated for the state senate by the republican senatorial convention, held at Athens, August 18th, the following high compliment:

"To Dr. Shipley, the nominee for the state senate, we have only this to say now. We have known him a long time, and, while he is a republican of pronounced type, we have always regarded him as a plain, straight, square man, with plenty of sense and a fair share of business capacity. His party could not, perhaps, have made a better selection. Dr. Shipley, of course, stands flat-footed and square-toed on the state credit platform enunciated by his party."
