Greatly to Appreciation Day Success
Success of Marysville Appreciation Days, to a very large degree, was brought about by help of persons and organizations in no way connected with the Marysville Chamber of Commerce.
"We had wonderful co-operation from many individuals," Nelson Weiss, general chairman of the event, said, "and I am deeply grateful to all of them for their services. Without them, Appreciation Days would not have been nearly as successful."
Those particularly mentioned by Mr. Weiss included:
Heart of Ohio Saddle Club and its president, Homer Herd, for the very fine part it played in the parade. Approximately 40 members of the club either rode horses or drove carriages in the parade, making a showing which drew a big ovation from the crowds.
All three Marysville florists- Marysville Floral Co, Richard F. Turner, and Alma's Flower Shop, for furnishing the flowers for the queen candidates.
John Spain, of Weiss Brothers, for organizing the publicity and helping with numerous details on the occasion.
Carrol Blue, of Miller Furniture Store, for furnishing and operating an automobile-mounted public address system which carried the Appreciation Day story verbally throughout the county.
Willis Shearer, of Navin Implement Co and local insurance agent, for helping line up the merchants themselves.
Lloyd Wall, for helping with the publicity.
Eugene Rausch, of the City Loan, for handling the local talent contest.
Charles Eddy, of H. I. Huffman & Co. garage, for handling the concessions.
Finally, to the First National Bank and its cashier, Dwight L. Graham, for handling the sale of the Appreciation Day tickets and queen coupons.
"This proved to be one of the most tedious, time-taking and important jobs of the entire program," Mr. Weiss said. "While the Bank is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, handling the tickets meant much extra work for them and they deserve credit for it. Mr. Graham, especially, bore the brunt of this task."
