Full Text
The Zion City Council trusts it hit the end of the trailer trouble at its weekly meeting Wednesday evening, February 4th, with unanimous approval of the city's first uniform trailer zoning ordinance.
The new law prohibits the use of trailers in Zion for residential or office space, with one exception:
Trailers may be used for a maximum of 15 days per calendar year, by non-paying guests of a property owner or resident.
In no case, however, may foundations be built or trailer wheels be removed.
The ordinance, drawn at the request of the council, is designed to rectify past troubles met by the administration in dealing with the city's trailer cases on their individual merits.
The new ordinance was based on sample ordinances from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and other Chicago area communities.
It will go into effect on February 23rd, after the required 10-day public notice.
